Hi folks, I hope you all have had a wonderful time off during the holidays and have brought in the new year with lots of cheer!
While I already made a post regarding the demo later in the month of December, I still wanted to keep up with the monthly development updates because more was going on than just the demo preparation!
As we approach the initial early access release, work is still happening both in the polish of a few features and fixes for issues that I have received from my alpha testers. While Stellar Navigator will be release in early access, I do want to ensure that the experience for all of you is one that is both polished and usable. While we journey through the early access phase together and new features are added, there of course will be times of instability.
However, I do have a plan for how to mitigate that as much as possible. More on that in a later update. In the mean time, I have alpha testers who are helping me with this last phase of polish work. Other work that has been done this last month includes: the creation of more planet visual types and an initial test of adding stations as orbital objects (similar to moons and asteroids). I am pleased to say that the test of adding an entirely new mesh (3D model) to the system which handles the creation of celestial bodies in a star system, took to the stations well. There is still quite a bit of work left to do on these as the code base needs to handle animation data and of course the work on creating several types of station assets.
I hope you all enjoy the rest of your holidays, know that Stellar Navigator is well on its way to an early 2025 early access release, and here is a sneak peak at another feature you have not yet seen that will provide you with another means by which you can bring your creativity and narrative, or notes to Stellar Navigator.
Until next time, keep looking to the stars, and have a happy new year!
